Maya Climate, a Berlin-based startup, has secured a €1.2m pre-seed funding round led by High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF), along with Antler and other prominent business angels.

The company aims to address the high capital cost faced by project developers in launching Nature-based Solutions (NbS) projects. By removing the funding bottleneck, Maya Climate enables developers to initiate NbS projects that are urgently needed worldwide. Since its soft launch in 2022, the platform has attracted large-scale projects, raising over $100m in financing.

Maya Climate’s technology platform connects project developers with institutional investors by digitising project origination, risk assessment, and due diligence. The digital project financing platform supports the unlocking of early-stage conservation and restoration projects. It focuses on the areas of forestry, agricultural land, wetlands, and coastal ecosystems which are generating revenues through carbon, biodiversity, or other environmental markets. Through this, Maya Climate is looking to become a category leader in the emerging nature tech market.
